We didn’t have a set plan for this milestone, we knew we wanted to ‘wait until she was ready’ but that was about it. So once she started talking about going to the bathroom, who is in the bathroom what they are doing in the bathroom- all the time- we figured she might be ready.
We’d had the chair set up for over a year, we’ve had stickers on hand for rewards, we bought a book called ‘Big Girls Go Potty’ but when it came down to it, she just wasn’t interested. Trying to force the issue resulted in tears. We’d have success here and there but nothing consistent, until lately, and seemingly overnight, she now wants nothing to do with those ol’ diapers and she loves wearing her big girl underwear.
I know we will have accidents, and that going out in public for extended periods of time will now bring a whole new set of challenges -anxiety for mom and dad and extra clothes for Layla- but no more diapers to change? No more diapers to buy? Definitely worth it. So congrats to our little lady and although we are very proud, just another reminder of how fast she is growing up.
