A Perfect Fort Collins Day...
Maybe a snowshoe excursion along Big South Trail up the Poudre Canyon, followed by fish and chips and a couple Not Brown Ales at Coopersmith’s… Or maybe a lazy afternoon on the patio at Odell’s Brewery followed by dinner at Gravity 1020... Or a fall Thursday evening bike ride to New Belgium to catch a bike-in movie…. I could go on... Court and I moved here nine years ago and we have never had a problem finding something fabulous to do when not at work - often, but not always, revolving around the area’s bountiful craft breweries.
But two years ago we welcomed a precious little girl into our world and now instead of hiking and brewery hopping I find myself Googling pumpkin patches. And loving it- don’t get me wrong- but as new members to
the parent club, we now have to explore a whole other
side of Fort Collins.
A perfect Fort Collins day, re-imagined…
Oh, the morning routine. Getting everyone ready for the day, getting off to work, dropping the kiddo at daycare. No fever, no spilled milk, no tears- it’s a good morning! And, Oh, the evening routine. Picking up kiddo, getting home, cooking dinner, cleaning up, getting ready for bed. No tantrums, no thrown meatballs, maybe even a glass of wine- it’s a good evening….
So it’s no surprise when the family does have a day off together, it can be tough to be motivated to leave the house. There’s the housework, the DVR, the extra sleep perhaps, whatever it is that keeps you from getting out and enjoying Colorado the way you want.
So, Court and I decided to make a pact- To take full advantage of the precious time we have as a family and enjoy all the wonderful amenities the place we have made our home has to offer.
So begins Toddlerado. Our life in Colorado with a two-year-old in tow. These are one family’s adventures (big and small), documenting and embracing their time together outside of work and daycare, in search of as many ‘perfect days’ as possible.
